Movement Modality

March 2021

This month we are using different approaches to movement in each of our classes to explore how the tissues and subtle energy in our bodies respond as we pulse, wave, flow or hold.

I love working with this kind of movement exploration and considering how I can offer different modalities to support myself in many ways through practice. I hope you enjoy exploring these over the course of the month and beyond as a pathway for exploring the subtle shifts we can create by offering variety and exploration to the way in which we show up in practice.

New this month:

Unfurl
vinyasa
From small to big, this class uses unfurling movements to transitionon into the poses slowly and mindfully. Through this gentle exploration we will bring space to the heart centre.

Wave
vinyasa
A strong yoga flow embodying the qualities of water to explore a wave like movement modality. Although this practice is open to everyone, it may be more challenging than the other flows this month so take options and modifications wherever you like to make the class work for you!

Pulse
vinyasa
An energising flow, using pulsating movements of varying paces to explore a connection to the pulsation of life within us. We will also activate the glutes, which in combination with the flow, give a toning and strengthening element to the class.

Hold
yin
This yin practice is focusing on the groin and glutes for a real hip focus. We back to back some shapes to deepen the practice despite the shorter length. Expect sleeping swans, butterflies and frogs!

Space
meditation
A meditation to support you in cultivating a sense of space.
